"I will praise thee;
for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and
that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee,
when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts
of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect;
and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were
fashioned, when as yet there was none of them." Psalm 139:14-16.
"Before I formed
thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the
womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations."
Jeremiah 1:5.
"And it came to
pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped
in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: And she spake
out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed
is the fruit of thy womb. And whence is this to me, that the mother
of my Lord should come to me? For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation
sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy." Luke 1:41-44
In light of the
above scriptures, it is clear to see that the baby in the womb is a
living human being.
- God knows the
developing baby.(Psalm 139:14-16)
- The baby is capable
of being influenced by the Holy Spirit.(Jeremiah 1:5)
- The baby can hear.(Luke
1:41-44)
- The child is subject
to emotions.(Luke 1:41-44)
As a midwife, I
cannot help but be sensitive to these facts. My experience with the
unborn and newborn convinces me that abortion is the taking away of
human life. Outside of the womb, such an act would clearly be declared
murder. How is it possible that some do not consider the baby a person
until it has passed completely through the birth canal?
Allow me to share
an experience I had not long ago. I had a mother who called me in the
middle of the night. She was 12 weeks pregnant, but about to miscarry
the baby. I rushed to her home and helped her as best I could through
the very emotional experience of losing her precious little one. I will
never forget holding that tiny 3 ¼ inch wonder in the palm of my hand.
The toes and fingers were all there. Peering into the little one's mouth
I could see the tongue. Rolling him over I traced the spine along his
back. This was not a mere fetus, but a cute little baby.
Please, please!
Don't let anyone fool you into believing that abortion is an option.
It is certainly not an option that you would want to remember the remainder
of your life.
